RELATED: Fortnite Chapter 4: Every New Gameplay Addition
In this guide, gamers will be able to learn everything there is to know about claiming certain locations in Fortnite. This has only just been added but it’s already proved to be quite useful, as long as players know how to use it.
How To Use Capture Points And Claim Locations
In all of the named locations on the new map, there is something called Capture Points. These Capture Points are usually located in the center of the POIs or in areas with a lot of empty space.
As soon as a player or the members of their team, step into the circle marked around the Capture Point, a meter will start to fill up until it’s completely full. Once the meter has reached its maximum, the location will be considered claimed by a certain team.
The meter takes about a full minute to fill up and even if all the teammates are inside the circle it won’t go any faster. Capturing a location can take a while so it’s important to stay alert and be on the lookout for enemies that might be ready to attack.
Claimed Locations
As soon as a location has been claimed, tons of loot will spawn on the floor. If it’s a bigger squad, then more goodies will appear. This isn’t the only good part about claiming a location, however. For a few moments after claiming a POI, the players that have captured the location will able to see the chests and the enemies nearby highlighted - it even works through walls.
This prevents the player’s team from getting attacked by surprise by enemies that could be lurking in their surroundings and it helps spot chests and Oathbound chests in the location. Oathbound chests are a great way to quickly get the Shockwave Hammer - a powerful hammer with a bouncing ability.
Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
