Epic Games’ ever-popular free-to-play battle royale title kicked off its new chrome-filled Chapter 3 Season 4 on September 18. The new season, titled “Paradise,” so far seems to be anything but - bugs and glitches aside - with several major characters getting swallowed by liquid chrome in Fortnite’s season trailer.

The Fortnite bug in question was posted by Reddit user u/Floating_egg, who has posted footage of the glitch to one of the developer-supported Fortnite subreddits. In the clip, viewers will see the player, equipped with the John Wick skin, running around the perimeter of a roof at Tilted Towers. At about seven seconds in, the player drops off the side to ground level, only to jump and be launched higher than even Rift-To-Go levels. The player then begins falling back down, narrowly missing mantling the roof edge, and ultimately falling to their death.

Comments on the post range from sympathetic to dismissive, with some saying they’ve experienced a similar issue, while others assert that this particular bug isn’t something new to Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4. The comments also seem to indicate that this particular bug is caused by Fortnite’s relatively new mantling ability. Introduced during Chapter 3 Season 2, mantling allows players to grab and hoist themselves up onto ledges, making it much easier to gain elevation. However, this bug takes that elevation gain to literal ridiculous heights, and seems to be affecting a number of players.

The mantling bug isn’t the only glitch being found in Fortnite’s latest season. Another player has shared images of a Fortnite bug that removes all water from the battle royale map. The player lands near Synapse station, where screenshots show a complete absence of any kind of water source anywhere on the map, including the island’s surrounding ocean. Fish are still shown swimming, indicating some kind of functionality, although its unclear if boats were still findable and usable.

Despite Fortnite’s new season presenting a handful of problems, other new content seems to be solving one. The latest update now allows hired Fortnite NPCs to resurrect players, making the AI more useful than ever before. With the recent bugs and glitches more than likely to be addressed in a new patch, it should be exciting to see what’s in store for this season of Fortnite.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
