According to a fresh post in Fortnite Battle Royale’s official subreddit, Sniper Shootout is an experience centered around sniper rifles, with all weapons on the map having been replaced by the gun type. That said, though, in a bid to make short-range encounters a little more palatable, the developers have made sure that players will also find revolvers throughout the landscape for them to keep on-hand as their trusty sidearm.
As one might expect, the standard consumables can also be found in the Sniper Shootout mode for Fortnite’s Battle Royale, but grenades have been removed to ensure that the only kills counted are those coming from sniper rifles, revolvers, and melee attacks. Those interested in trying out the limited-time only mode can do so starting today, with Sniper Shootout’s availability ending this Friday, February 2, 2018.
Taking all of this into consideration, there’s no telling at this point in time whether or not Fortnite’s Battle Royale will eventually receive Sniper Shootout as a permanent fixture in the game’s future. Nevertheless, the mode will likely be most popular with players who primarily enjoy pulling off well-timed skill shots, and will surely be enjoyed by those who frequent the recently added city of Tilted Towers from Update 2.2.0.
Fortnite is available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
